The Finnish Clown Academy is a non-profit website created to make our planet a funnier place to live. 

The idea of this website is to inspire clown school instructors, clowns and comedy writers to make better skits after they have scrolled  gag directories up and down for a while. 


Pelleopisto pohjautuu kolmen vuoden aikana julkaistuun Pelleopisto-blogiin. Siinä esiteltiin viikottain 7 hauskuuttamisen periaatetta, joita voi käyttää  esiintymistaidon työpajoissa tai oman esityksen suunnittelussa.  Niinpä tämä nyt julkaistava, ainutlaatuinen ja laajennettu  aineisto on melkoisen vaativa kokonaisuus.  Sen intensiiviseen  läpikäymiseen kulunee useita kuukausia tai jopa vuosia. CLOWN PRINCIPLES paljastaa kahden kuuluisan koomikon oivaltamia naurattamiseen liittyviä perustotuuksia. Toinen listaus on julkaistu suomeksikin täällä.


Koomisten periaatteiden mielikuvitusta herättelevän listan lisäksi löydät Pelleopistosta  FAMOUS CLOWNS -luettelon kuuluisista klovneista.  Googlaamalla niitä nimiä saatat törmätä tosi hauskoihin videoaarteisiin.  Perinteiden tunteminen on taiteessa kuin taiteessa tärkeää.  Buster Keatonin klassikkokomedia "Kenraali" kuuluu myös Pelleopiston opetussuunnitelmaan CLOWN VIDEOS-osiossa.


Etusivun alaosan CLOWNSKILLS-jaksossa esitellään muun muassa pantomiimin perusharjoitteita ja muutakin klovneriaan yleisesti liitettyjä taitoja - kuten ilmapallohahmojen taittelua. Naurattamisen taitoa ja naurattamisen taitajia esitteleviä suomenkielisiä kirjoja on koottu lopun luetteloon lyhyiden selostusten kera.  Suomalaisten klovnien kavalkadikin kuuluu Pelleopiston tarjontaan.




The gag principles listed hereby are commonly used and they can be mixed  together in countless ways.  Though this site is called a clown academy it suits well to all comedians.

Tim Ferguson has written ”The Cheeky Monkey - Writing Narrative Comedy” about this same item.

How did it all begin? 

I can well recall that time some twenty years ago when this project started.  Sitting in the front of TV-set I wrote down all the ridiculous things what Chaplin did in his silent films.

During physical theatre shows  there were always some sheets of paper on my lap.  The pen moved in the darkness, when these gags were written down. When the audience laughed, a "HA" emerged in the margin.

Lots of euros have been spent to the classic comedy DVD-boxes, but its has been worth of it.

Some years ago the Finnish directory was published as an attachment in a book called “Naurun ABC” and after that in a weekly based "Pelleopisto" -weblog. 

When starting this  project I couldn´t have expected that one day the funniest clown of Sirkus Finlandia would be a student of Finnish Clown Academy.



Now it´s time to make people laugh!
